Oh, my… I didn’t see you come in…

Nanu nanu!

I am Duc Tang, a licensed massage therapist (LMT), based in West Philadelphia, PA. Aspiring to make the world a better place—one body, one massage at a time! Because it’s that much easier to be kinder when we ourselves are happier.

So where did the name come from, you ask?

In another life, I was pursuing ceramics, it is now more of a hobby. The name itself refers to not only the clay slurry that slips through my fingers when I’m throwing on the wheel but also my state of mind—where I slip away from the external world where nothing else exists but being fully present for the task at hand—it felt amazing! When I’m working on a client, I hope to give you that level of attention. And for my client, I hope to carve out a moment for you to slip away from everything that may be bothering you and give you a moment of peace.

Why did I choose this as a career?

My first massage experience was during a visit to Taiwan many years ago. While visiting a friend, we were walking around and went into a neighborhood massage parlor. It was painful! Neither one of us had asked the therapists to lighten up because we didn’t want the other to think that we couldn’t take the pain… Only to admit afterward that we were both grinding our teeth during the massage. Anyway, I felt amazing after the massage—my steps were springier and I felt like I was floating? As it had turned out, it was exactly what I had needed without knowing.

When the time had come for me to consider a career change, being an LMT checks off many boxes for me. I can help others. I can work with my hands (and arms and elbows). I can work for myself. I can make my own schedule. I love puzzles, and clients’ conditions are like puzzles. So yes, I am very excited to further my pursuit of this career and learning different modalities to better serve my clients!

Your self-care routine?

When I’m not working, you may catch me getting massages (for research purposes :), forest bathing, engaging in crafty projects, planning an international trip, and biking. Maybe working on a book that have been patiently waiting for me on my bookshelf.

PS I personally believe that everyone deserves some time off for their body, mind, and soul to catch a beat. If you’re in need of a massage but finance is a barrier, please get in touch. We’ll work out a price that is respectable for the both of us.

Warmly,

Duc
