A Brief Guide to Receiving a Massage

  • Payment is accepted before or at time of service. This will allow you to get your massage and then not have to worry about payment afterwards. And in the same spirit, I will not be accepting tips.

  • Please kindly arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time. This will allow us enough time to properly check in, especially if you are a new client. We will go over the intake form, check in to see how you’re feeling, and set goal(s) for our session.

I will come out and greet you at the door as this is a home studio. Massage service is provided in a dedicated massage room. Clean indoor slippers will be provided.

I will show you to the massage room. I will leave the room to let you dress down and get under the sheet on the massage table. I will knock, and wait for confirmation, before reentering room.

Once the session begins, you may zone out if you like, focus on your breathing, or even catch some Z’s Some clients are quiet, and that’s fine, please do not feel pressured to make conversations. This is your time, your massage.

I will occasionally check in to see how you’re doing and to see if I need to make any adjustments, ie. adjusting the pressure.

Once our session comes to an end. I will gently let you know, make the room a little brighter., and eave the room to let you get dressed. Take a moment to catch your breadth and acknowledge how your body is feeling. Take your time to safely get off the table.

At this point, I hope that I have made you feel better! And remember to drink plenty of water afterward!

  • Life happens. Kindly get in contact as soon as you’re able.

If you are running late, it may cut into your appointment time. This is out of respect for the next client and my own time. If there is no appointment after yours, I may be able to provide the full session. However, if this is a pattern, your session time will be cut short. Full amount of fee will still be due.

If you need to cancel, please do so with more than 24 hours notice. If less than 24 hours, you will be charged a 50% fee of total cost for session. If this becomes a pattern, I may have to refuse your future appointments.

  • This will depends on the type of massage that you are receiving.

For a Swedish Massage, or one that is purely for relaxation purposes, you should not feel any pain. If you are experiencing pain, or uncomfortable with anything that the therapist is doing, you should communicate this to your therapist immediately. A professional therapist will be more than happy to make any necessary adjustments—remember that this is your massage. Please do not feel like you are “complaining", communication is very important.

If you are requesting something like a Deep Tissue Massage, or a therapeutic one, you may experience what is referred to as therapeutic pain. Similar to how stretching may feel uncomfortable during but great afterward. We will not be going for anything more than you can handle or requested. My approach is to take it slow with breath work and frequent checking in. Please note that a deep tissue massage does not mean that we will be applying deep pressure on every muscles.

  • Client’s feeling of safety and comfort takes priority.

You may dress down to your comfort level before getting on the massage table.

You may also requests your therapist to not touch/work on any area that you are not comfortable with. Please note: This may inhibit some therapeutic work as muscles affect one another.

Only body parts that are being worked on will be undraped. Private areas and chests are never undraped.

By default, I will have a blanket in addition to the sheet to help keep you warm. During the winter time, a heated blanket will also be used.

  • Massage is amazing with many benefits but it is not a substitute for medical care.

There are certain situations/conditions where massage may do harm and is ill advised, please disclose any medical conditions/injuries to your therapist.

If you are not feeling well, please reschedule.

Sometimes massage may leave bruises. This is common when receiving work such as Cupping and/or Gua Sha work.
